If you are attempting to identify an unknown cultivar by documenting the iris using photos... Don't skimp on film!! | |
| Return to Table of Contents | Be sure to take notes as you photograph, documenting any info that would aid in identification or that is difficult to show in a picture. Slides or color photos are both acceptable although the well documented inability of film emulsions to render an acceptable blue makes the "confusing spring blues" almost impossible to ID from a photo. Remember, more is better!! Nothing is more frustrating than attempting an identification with inadequate photo material. MBL |
Take a good, overall clump shot...Stop down so that maximum depth of field is achieved and get as close as possible while keeping the entire clump in the frame. Kneel or squat so that you don't shoot from above. Clear weeds, grass, debris or other distractions from around the clump base.Try not to include foliage from other iris clumps. |
