SIERRA BLUE (Essig, R. 1930). TB, M. B1M. Very well branched; large wisteria violet, the inconspicious hafts are clay color; 4 ft. S. conic; F. flaring, a bit ruffled; beard, projecting, bluish, yellow tipt. Deeper and more of a self than Sensation. Souv. de Mme. Gaudichau X Santa Barbara. HM AIS 1933; Dykes Medal, 1935. From the 1937 Quality Gardens catalog: 48". An enormous lavender blue self, with smooth laquered finish and deep orange beard. The falls flare widely and are well poised on the widely branching stalks.
