Jack Worel on 'Minnesota Mixed-up kid':

"I don't know much about it--no one seems to. It has been distributed in this area for at least 30 years. I believe it is diploid, I have not been able to get any crosses using it with tetraploid TBs. I did set seed on it but they did not grow and looked bad. I should try again and use another diploid. A friend has selfed it several times and 90 to 95% of the seedlings are like the parent--a few light blue-violet with darker spots have been raised but die off after a couple of years."

"In a clump of 'MN Mixed-up Kid' yellow selfs with varying areas, light to dark yellow, occur. Flowers with the red violet streaks and blotches are different on every blossom."

"Speculation has it that 'Minnesota Mixed-up kid' may be either descended from, or a sport of, Joseph's Coat. Joan Cooper, HIPS Slide Chairman, believes that it may be a sport of Honorabile."
